System Size 12.5 KW solar array, 10 KW wind turbine

Special Features Net-Zero energy design with all power needs met by solar & wind energy.  Solar modules installed in 3 locations with custom racking for each location, 3 SMA SunnyBoy Inverters, Outback 3600 watt battery based grid-tie inverter.

We wanted to create a building that walked our talk, that demonstrated sustainability and self-sufficiency as a teaching model for our students. And for the public too—to show that we can live sustainably.

Our motivation for installing solar on our whole foods store was to demonstrate the viability of solar technology within our community, provide a clean energy source to our business & environmentally conscious customers, and reduce operating costs.  our energy costs have gone down, and I think that’s something that any business can stand behind.
