Fairfield Public Library

Project Summary

This 17 kW installation at the Fairfield Public Library was the reward after a year’s long effort to reduce overall energy consumption in the City of Fairfield, IA.

Fairfield was selected by serving utility, Alliant Energy, to participate in the Hometown Rewards Program, and chose a goal of reducing overall city energy consumption over year’s time by 4%. By meeting this goal, Fairfield would be granted a cash reward to fund an energy improvement — in this case, to install a solar array on the public library.

Ideal Energy collaborated with the City of Fairfield on this project, on the installation, hosted a series of lectures outlining the benefits and basics to PV, and made a donation time and materials to increase the solar installation. Through a series of lectures, events, and workshops, the community members of Fairfield rallied together, slashing the 4% reduction goal, and achieving an impressive overall 8.5% energy reduction.
