Grinnell College has a longstanding history of commitment to environmental stewardship within the campus grounds, including signing the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, requiring institutions to develop comprehensive plans to achieve climate neutrality. Since then, the College has engaged in a cross-section of campus-wide, sustainability initiatives.
Under the direction of Chris Bair, Environmental and Safety Coordinator, the Facilities Management underwent a solar retrofit in 2014, contributing to Grinnell College’s target sustainability goals and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
